My parents and James and Vicki made a last-minute trip to Tulsa to watch KU play in the second and third rounds of the tournament. But Friday night Ann invited me to the box seats to watch the KU v. Boston University game - so fun! There was also a great tent right outside the BOK center, where we hung out and watched for KU fans we would know. Saturday it was off to McNellie's for the KU Alumni Association happy hour. Note to self: MUST be more involved in this - it's such a great way to meet people and make connections with those I may never otherwise meet. We had a blast, and even met the man who provides all the beef for the Oread and Eldridge (very exciting for me!).
We then did stops at Woody's, Fassler Hall and Leon's for dinner, but decided it would be a good idea to go home a little early. Sunday we did breakfast at Tally's (new family favorite) and did some shopping at Utica Square. The weather was fantastic and the flowers were blooming like crazy! We then made our way to the tents where we watched basketball, then went in to watch Texas v. Arizona (unfortunately our Big 12 compadres didn't fair well), but then it was time for the big show: KU v. Illinois. And happily the Jayhawks made it through and will be playing in the Sweet 16! Rock Chalk!
Went to the Mayo Hotel rooftop bar to have a celebratory drink, but it was bittersweet as I knew it was back to reality on Monday, with the folks going home and J off to Colorado for the week. I have a feeling this week will consist of detox, reading, and chilling out with Louise as I prep for another awesome weekend with the girls in town - can't wait!
