A delish summer meal: redfish, shrimp, grilled veggies and white wine.

No posts as of late, as nothing and everything has been happening the last few weeks (cryptic I know, but hopefully an update soon).

Until then, two new books I spent my time with:

The second books of The Hunger Games. Love this series (as so many people do), and this was a great bridge into the grand finale.

The Tiger's Wife was really interesting. The author is only 25 and it was written beautifully. The characters had so much background and her descriptions of people and places was gorgeous. But I have to admit, the story line left me scratching my head. But I predict great things to come from this lady.

What a great Fourth of July! It was very relaxing and fun all at the same time.

Friday night Maggie came through town on her way back to Wamego, and we grilled up a feast and caught up, which was fantastic. We then decided to go out for a bit, and happened to run in to Anna and Katie - Theta Reunion!

The plan for months had been to go to Grand Lake for the rest of the weekend, but there was an outbreak of blue green algae that caused officials to encourage people not to get in the water. Everyone was debating whether or not to even go, but J and I decided to stay home and Saturday and head out the morning.

So...we did a movie day! First off, Midnight in Paris. LOVED IT. Absolutely adored it. Sometimes Woody Allen films have a different flavor that I'm not a huge fan of, but this was light, funny and had characters from 1920's Paris - Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Stein, Dali, Man Ray...etc. etc. It was really fun.

Then we Netflixed Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Toy Story 3, and Romeo + Juliet. I felt stuck to the couch for sure.

Sunday we headed to the lake with Louise in tow, and were able to enjoy the gorgeous weather, spend time catching up with J's family, and even went to the clubhouse pool. That night we went out on a boat ride to watch the fireworks, and between the toxic algae, rough waters AND lightning, we felt like we had quite the adventure.

Monday we hung around, went out on the boat and really, were over the blue green algae thing. Lots of people were out swimming and boating, and J swam and he's fine. Kinda wish I would have ignored it all weekend too!

Had a fun little night at the ballpark last night, catching up with friends we hadn't seen in awhile and enjoying dollar beer night. Chris even caught a foul ball!

Very, very excited for the long Fourth of July weekend. Maggie coming through tonight, then lake time for three days - sun, water, good food and drink. Can't wait!
